FIRST LADY SUPPORTS TWO HOSPITALS

The Lordina Foundation has presented a number of medical supplies to two hospitals in the Eastern Region. The facilities are Asamankese Government Hospital and Ghana Consolidated Diamond Hospital at Akwatia. The items include wheel chairs, baby cloths, beds, mattresses, infusion pressure sets, syringes, drainage bags and medical tapes. Presenting the items, the First Lady, Mrs. Lordina Mahama said the need to support the hospitals was critical because the towns are commercially ones in the region therefore need resourced hospitals to be able to cope with the demand for their services. It is her conviction that healthcare professionals must be motivated to improve their capability of fulfilling the social obligation of the government to protect the health of the citizenry. Mrs. Lordina Mahama said it is against this background that her foundation is working closely with other organizations to support programmes that will assist the underprivileged in accessing quality healthcare. The First Lady said a healthy community ultimately will be empowered to contribute to the development of the nation and therefore appealled to all and sundry to offer the needed support towards preserving the ecosystem and clean environment. This, she believes will have additional benefit of making the people healthy as well as making healthcare delivery a success. The Eastern Region Minister, Mavis Ama Frimpong used the occasion to outlined a number of developmental projects the government is undertaking such as road construction, rural electrification, provision of potable water and construction and upgrading of health facilities. She called on Ghanaians to retain the NDC government in power in order to continue its good works for the betterment of the nation. They should also vote massively for the party, come election day devoid of confusion and tension.
