Workers in the Eastern Region have been celebrated for their enormous contribution to developmental agenda of the government.
Addressing workers in the region during this year’s may day celebration, the Honourably Eastern Regional Minister, Mr. Eric Kwakye Darfour praised workers for their contribution to the growth and stability of the country’s economy.
He encouraged the youth, especially the unemployed youth to take advantage of the numerous government policies such as planting for food and jobs, one district, one factory and other programmes.
Touching on the Nation Builders Corps programme (NABCO), the minister said, NABCO is one of the major programmes of government aimed at tackling graduate unemployment in the country.
A total of 100,000 graduates who have completed their National Service would be engaged under seven modules; Feed Ghana, Educate Ghana, Revenue Ghana, Heal Ghana, Enterprise Ghana, Digitise Ghana and Governance Ghana.
The Regional Chairman of Trade Union, Mr Michael Owusu called on the government to engage the various unions regularly to avoid industrial agitations and strike.
Deserving workers who have distinguished themselves were presented with certificate and Television sets and refrigerators.
